The "Beyoğlu Gazozu" bottle, designed in collaboration between GCA and Beyoğlu Gazozu, has received the Red Dot Award, considered one of the most prestigious design awards in the world. Beyoğlu Gazozu receiving the award at Packaging Design category in 2017 at Red Dot:Communication Design, was designed with inspiration from Beyoğlu and Galata Tower, which is one of the historical landmarks of the Beyoğlu district.GCA and Beyoğlu Gazozu İçecek A.Ş., turning the 14th-century tower into an iconic design, brought the award in Turkey.
The Red-Dot Awards: Communication Design, deemed one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious awards, have been awarded for this year. In the contest, organized every year in 34 categories to determine and evaluate new designs which hit the markets, 8,000 new designs from 50 countries were inspected in detail this year. The Beyoğlu Gazozu bottle, which was among the projects evaluated by a committee of independent and international experts, was granted the 2017 Red Dot Award. The Beyoğlu Gazozu glass bottle, designed by GCA and Beyoğlu Gazozu, is a homage to Beyoğlu, a center of attraction full of historical texture and cultural richness as different from modern Turkey. The project, which initiated from the idea of Beyoğlu Gazozu founder Kerim Sakızlı, that the bottle identified with Beyoğlu brand must symbolize Galata Tower, was developed by Neil Kaan Hirst, the glass packaging designer of GCA, with a design most suitable for glass packaging production and came to life in glass. The nostalgic atmosphere of Istanbul was spread worldwide with Beyoğlu Gazozu İçecek A.Ş. design with its golden cap and Taksim Tramway label, which symbolizes respect for the past.
