The new executive board members of ÇEVKO Foundation, a leading organization in the development of recycling systems in Türkiye, have been announced. Dr. Abdullah Gayret, General Manager of GCA, has been appointed as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.

As one of the leading brands in the glass packaging industry, GCA continues to assume new responsibilities to support sustainable production and reduce environmental impact. Founded on November 1, 1991, with the mission of contributing to the establishment and advancement of a sustainable recycling system in Türkiye, ÇEVKO Foundation held its first board meeting following the 2025 Ordinary General Assembly and elected its new board and supervisory board members. In this new term, Dr. Abdullah Gayret was elected Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.

“We aim to contribute more strongly to the transition to a circular economy”

Commenting on his new role, Dr. Abdullah Gayret stated:
“It is a great honor to be appointed as Vice Chairman of the Board of ÇEVKO Foundation. As one of the most established institutions in the field of sustainability in our country, we will continue to work resolutely with ÇEVKO to promote a culture of recycling and to raise environmental awareness across all segments of society. As a representative of glass—a packaging material that is infinitely recyclable—we aim to play a stronger role in supporting Türkiye’s transition to a circular economy.”

Representing Türkiye in the European Union

ÇEVKO Foundation obtained the exclusive rights to use the international "Green Dot" trademark in Türkiye in 2003. This enabled the Foundation to join the European family of recovery organizations and to represent Türkiye at the international level. In collaboration with municipalities and licensed companies, ÇEVKO has supported companies in fulfilling their recovery obligations. Between 2005 and 2020, the Foundation facilitated the separate collection of a total of 27,608,700 tons of packaging waste at its source. Through its education and awareness-raising initiatives, ÇEVKO continues to play a vital role in increasing public awareness about the importance of recycling packaging waste.
