Regarding his reappointment to the FEVE Board, Dr. Abdullah Gayret said:
“I am honored and pleased to serve another term on the FEVE Board of Directors. I am fully aware that this responsibility not only represents our country but also plays a key role in shaping the transformation of the European glass packaging industry. In this process, our priority will be to make the environmental benefits of endlessly recyclable glass more visible and to position our industry at the heart of this transformation. At GCA, we will continue contributing to sustainability through a broad spectrum of efforts from technology and design to recycling and digitalization.”

Glass Industry at the Heart of Transformation

The European glass sector stands at the very center of industrial transformation. With over 160 production facilities across 23 countries, the industry produces more than 20 million tons of infinitely recyclable glass each year, supporting approximately 125,000 jobs. Particularly in the food and beverage sectors, glass-packaged products remain one of the strategic pillars of European industry, with a market value exceeding €140 billion.

A Cornerstone of the Circular Economy in Europe

With its reusable and infinitely recyclable properties, glass has become the sustainable packaging choice for both consumers and brands across Europe. As the sector takes major steps toward implementing the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, FEVE continues to lead the way. The Federation is actively working to establish a streamlined regulatory framework that prioritizes innovation, competitiveness, and feasibility strengthening the role of glass packaging in the circular economy.
