“GCA Recycling Detectives Primary School Education Project” started in Kütahya
The "GCA Recycling Detectives Primary School Education Project", carried out in cooperation with the ÇEVKO Foundation and GCA, started to be implemented in Kütahya Ağaçköy Primary School. Within the scope of the project, students are informed about the importance of protecting the environment and recycling, and it is aimed to raise awareness about packaging waste.
"GCA Recycling Detectives Primary School Education Project", implemented in partnership with GCA and ÇEVKO Foundation. GCA has made a difference in the glass packaging industry with its value-added products since 2015. ÇEVKO Foundation is Turkey's leading organization in the recycling of packaging waste. Our pilot project started in Kütahya Ağaçköy Primary School from 3rd to 6th graders. Face-to-face training was provided within the scope of the project, which aims to raise awareness of the students about the environment and packaging waste from a young age. In the project, which is planned to contribute to leaving a sustainable future for next generations, raw materials used in glass production and recyclable wastes were introduced to the students and recycling booklets were given as gifts.
“We are struggling to protect our nature”
"It is of great importance for our world to fulfill our fundamental responsibility towards nature and other living things by preventing environmental pollution," said GCA General Manager Dr. Abdullah Gayret and continued his speech with the following words: “Gurok Group, which stands out with its contribution to education and the environment, launched the Rıza Güral Education First for the Future Scholarship Fund with the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV) last January. Within the scope of the fund, gratuitous scholarship support will be provided to 34 students studying in Kütahya and Antalya in the first place. Acting with the awareness of keeping nature and natural resources clean within the body of Gürok Group, we continue to take responsibility in order to leave a more livable world to our precious children, who are our future. We are struggling to protect our nature with our glass packaging production, which we always carry out by keeping the environment and people at the forefront.
"Environmental awareness is important in environmental cleaning, this awareness is achieved through education"
Abdullah Gayret said the following about the “GCA Recycling Detectives Primary School Education Project”: “GCA carry out works that are beneficial to nature and the environment with our sustainability projects. We know that glass helps us to protect our habitat, land and nature as it is an infinitely recyclable material. It is the common responsibility of all of us to clean the environment, protect our living spaces and protect green. Clean surroundings create a clean society. With this project, I hope that students will grow up as individuals who have developed environmental awareness and acknowledgment of their social responsibilities by raising their awareness of recycling.”
“We need to recycle our packaging waste that we cannot reuse”
Sharing his views on the project, ÇEVKO Foundation Secretary General Mete İmer said, “As ÇEVKO Foundation, we set out to protect our environment thirty-two years ago by saying, 'Packaging wastes are not garbage!' At the point we have reached, we have reached the discourse of "Waste is a resource!" together with the new developments in the world. In order to reach the 'Zero Waste' target in our world with an increasing population and decreasing resources, we need to produce less waste, reuse the packaging, and recycle the packaging waste that we cannot reuse. I would like to thank GCA, a member of the Board of Directors of the ÇEVKO Foundation, for their contribution to the implementation of the booklet we prepared within the scope of the project.”
