GCA Offers Strong Support for Students’ Sustainability Projects
Green Dot Student Awards Celebrated Their Winners
The Green Dot Student Awards, organized for the third time this year by the ÇEVKO Foundation, were presented at a ceremony under the main sponsorship of GCA, one of Turkey’s leading glass packaging manufacturers under Gürok Group. The event showcased innovative projects developed by university students in packaging design, waste management, and environmental social responsibility. These projects highlighted the potential of young talent to transform their sustainability vision into practical and real-world solutions.
The awards are part of the traditional Green Dot Awards organized by ÇEVKO (Environmental Protection and Packaging Waste Recovery and Recycling Foundation). This year’s ceremony took place at the TOBB Istanbul Service Building. Students from various universities collaborated on joint projects, and several initiatives earned recognition in multiple categories. These outcomes once again demonstrated young people’s growing interest in environmental transformation.
Students Honored in Three Categories
A total of 12 students from 9 different universities received awards, either individually or as teams. The award categories were “Ecological Packaging Design,” “Waste Management Systems and Applications,” and “Environmental Social Responsibility Practices.” Some projects placed in more than one category, and students from different universities collaborated on shared initiatives. These results were among the most notable highlights of the ceremony. The Green Dot Student Awards aim to increase sustainability awareness among young people and strengthen cooperation between academia and industry.
Meaningful Support from GCA for Sustainable Production and Youth-Led Innovation
In his speech at the ceremony, GCA General Manager Dr. Abdullah Gayret emphasized the value they place on ÇEVKO Foundation’s contributions to fostering a recycling culture.
He stated that the projects developed by students in packaging design, waste management, and social responsibility create significant value for the industry. Dr. Gayret also underlined that GCA’s “GCA for the Future” vision extends beyond production processes.
He explained that the company’s culture is evolving around environmental performance, digital transformation, and sustainability. He concluded his remarks with the following message: “A sustainable world will be shaped by the imagination and courage of young people. All the projects showcased here today have the power to influence the future of our industry. As GCA, we will continue to be one of the strongest supporters of this ecosystem.”
